As Head of Digital for Global Markets at Standard Bank, Mpumi Makhubu-Mukogo leads with innovation, inclusion and impact, underpinned by a deep understanding of what technology can offer clients, teams and the broader economy. Under her leadership, her team has created solutions that enhance the client experience through offerings such as our eMarketTrader platform.
Her leadership was recognised when she was nominated to represent Standard Bank in the prestigious IFF Future Leaders Programme, which brings together emerging leaders under 40 from across the globe to explore the future of finance, sustainability and inclusive growth.
Within Global Markets, Mpumi is known for driving cross-functional collaboration, and enhancing resilience and client-centricity. Alongside her focus on innovation, she is a mentor and advocate for an inclusive culture, serving on Standard Bank’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) Committee for over a decade, holding the roles of Deputy and later Chairperson over the past five years.
“Leadership can never be static”, she says. “We live in a dynamic world, and successful leadership means being fluid, adaptable and innovative while never losing sight of your ideals and objectives.”
For Mpumi, digital transformation is not just about tools, but about cultivating a mindset of continuous exploration and empowering stakeholders to thrive in a rapidly evolving world. To this end, she’s currently pursuing an Executive Masters in Digital Transformation and Innovation Leadership through IE University in Spain.
It’s this blend of vision, adaptability and authenticity that places Mpumi at the forefront of a new generation of distinguished women leading Standard Bank into the future.
